The new girl in town: Delvaux! Not long ago this Belgium born luxury leather brand opened its doors on 5th Avenue, and I was one of the lucky few to be there, and lunch amongst the prettiest to celebrate! It’s no secret I love bags. Luxury leather handbags are an absolute obsession, and I will never have enough of them. I still remember dreaming of owning one – about 8 years ago – but until the moment I actually had one I could call “mine”, I carried around anything that resembled the real deal. With always an extreme critical eye for detail; I would never leave the house with a bag made of anything else than leather – unless it was a bag meant to be from some sort of fabric other than leather, as in a “trend”, obviously. Quality has ALWAYS played a huge part in what I bought and wore, and especially nowadays, when I have access to the best quality products, I won’t settle for less.. Yet, I like trends, and I do follow them, but always in my own way… I’m very specific when it comes to what I think looks good and what doesn’t. This is of course just my opinion, and there are countless other options that matter equally as much as mine, but this is how I define my personal style. And you do yours. I do like to think, though, that I can also tell you what looks good on YOU, or what YOU should invest in now, or save up for. One of those things is a “Delvaux bag”. Delvaux originates from the 1829s and is with that one of the oldest fine leather luxury good houses in the world! And inventor of the handbag, and close to home – for me: from the Kingdom of Belgium. And especially that last part is something I’m proudly supporting. Brands like Delvaux, how have been around for that long, delivering only the finest products, and with a brand new store on Fifth Avenue in New York, need some spotlight!   Balenciaga sneakers / Balenciaga socks (in black) / Delvaux “Cool Box” bag / Maje leggings (on a budget) / Balenciaga hoodie. There’s never been a day in my life where I decided against a double denim look. I loved finding out this was called the “Canadian Tux” even though I havent’ really dug deeper into where that came from… The reason why I always love it, is because it’s sophisticated yet easy to wear. The focus of your look are more on the accessories and shoes you wear it with. In this photo I wore my double denim look on a recent press-trip to Shanghai with Chloe, hence the Chloe boots and Chloe bag. The sunglasses I’m wearing are Celine, the denim shirt by 3×1 and the shorts RE/DONE jeans (both on SALE). As many of you know, I love to wear a chic gowns with a pair of sneakers. A statement mini-dress with a custom-made crisp white pair is definitely a combination I don’t mind either. Of course I do love high heels, too, but I rather wear those with a pair of jeans and a statement top than with a dress. Why? Simply because I love to mix things up. It might not be for everyone, but that’s OK. I’m not here to tell you how to dress like me, I’m here to inspire you and give you some ideas on how to dress in another way than you thought you wanted to dress. I’m here to make you want to do it differently, maybe, even if it’s for one time only… Well if you ask me, there’s nothing better – besides the smell of a new born, the first coffee of the day, and the feel of freshly made bed – than a Valentino gown worn with a pair of sneakers. I know, I know, this is controversial – to some at least – but to me it’s THE ULTIMATE statement. The concept is obviously not restricted to or limited by only Valentino – see this Giambattista gown for example – or just gowns in general; it all comes down to that one simple “excitement” factor that a look NEEDS to have. So either it’s a freaking extravagant pair of sneakers, but with the simplest of the simplest white summer dress, OR that gorgeous gown you haven’t worn after you wore it to your best friends’ wedding – but daresay you wish you could… with a simple pair of white kicks. And then we change “wish I could” into I CAN… Even if it’s with a pair of Converse, you are able to rock this look too! In this photo I’m wearing a Valentino dress, a pair of custom-made exclusive to Mytheresa Valentino sneakers, my favorite Kayu straw bag – get similar one here – and a pair of Celine sunglasses – get similar option here! It’s the first time ever that I’m writing a message like this one on my blog… because it’s the first time that I’m launching a capsule collection… So you can probably imagine how beyond thrilled I am to finally reveal the launch date of my capsule collection for Amazon The Drop called “Thefashionguitar x The Drop”. Tomorrow, Tuesday August 6th, for 30 hours in total – it’s expected to sell out quickly so read further to find out how to NOT MISS OUT! Through the below link you will be directed to your local Amazon site, on which you can shop all the 14 pieces of my capsule collection. The easiest way to shop though, on your phone is through the Amazon app, which I encourage you to download, so that the items you love will be ready to order in just a few clicks. You can ALSO sign up for the automatic text messaging service, which will alert you when the collection goes LIVE! The shopping link is here, and please find explanation of sizing and compositing of all items below! Happy Shopping! When designing this dress for my “Thefashionguitar x The Drop” collection, I had “the ultimate summer chic” dress in mind. One that I could wear to my best friend’s wedding, and by switching heels for sneakers, also for a school run or day full of meetings! The dress runs true to size. I’m wearing an XS, and you can adjust the waist for the desired fit tied in the waist or more loose and straight! My inspiration for this dress was the shirt dress Lady Diana wore to a polo game when she was pregnant. It’s so simple, but so chic, and easy to be dressed up with a ballerina or pair of heels, or dressed down with a pair of sneakers. Pregnant or not pregnant, the loose fit makes for the ultimate summer comfort! I’m wearing a size XS, and it runs true to size (worn oversized). I love to wear dresses in summer, but if there would be one pair of trousers I had to pick, it would be this one; the most comfortable wide-leg statement trousers, with elastic waistband, to be worn all the way up, comfortably in the waist. Styled with a simple loose-fitted t-shirt or tank top!  The trousers are worn in the waist and have an elastic band that makes it super comfortable. I’m wearing and XS, and it runs true to size, but if you like it a bit longer, you can size up! I’m 1.68cm and wear it with flat shoes… Designed these off-shoulder tops as one of our summer staples for my “Thefashionguitar x The Drop” collection. One in floral, one in pastel green, and both easy to combine with denim or the blue boxer-shorts from the capsule collection! I’m wearing an XS, but the room around the waist is generous for me (I don’t have a lot of breast), so if you have a petite torso, you could size one down. I would size one down. The arms are attached to the body part, and you can wear the arms also on the shoulders if desired. Inspired by the original men’s boxer-shorts, but tailored so that it fits right on the waist for comfort and is easy to style with one of the off-shoulder

For as long as I can remember, I love to wear sneakers with dresses more than anything in the world. And as I’m writing this article, I’m sitting behind my laptop outside at the pool, wearing my new Reebok Club C-85 Vintage sneaker with a long floral linen dress. Heaven! In fact, the Reebok Club C-85 Vintage sneakers are a favorite in our household; Thomas and James were the first to own a pair, and now finally I have my own pair! Needless to say, Stella is asking for a pair now too…   Now for I think as long as YOU can remember ME, you know me as the girl who wears a pair of sneakers with her gown during Haute Couture Week in Paris. And you also know this doesn’tonly happens during that week… in my ideal world, this is my go-to look. I’m sometimes joking that it is one of my dreams to drop off the kids at school in a little couture dress, with my Reebok Club C-85 Vintage sneakers, yet, I have so many dreams to work hard for that I obviously have the remove “couture” from the equation for now, and go for any opulent dress that comes my way that allows me to run from uptown to downtown, and back. And the “running” part definitely remains part of the equation, because there’s never enough hours in the day, and I’m always in a hurry and literally done with the blisters on my feed from any other shoe than my favorite pair of Reeboks. What I love so much about this pair is that they look like they’ve been literally brought back from the past. When Thomas saw them – and the one he has are less “vintage” looking – he was like “these have been saved from the 80s and sold now!”. Obviously this isn’t the case, because Reebok’s use of materialsadvanced with time, but the design is SO GOOD. So it’s really just as a compliment towards the incredible “new” vintage look they have. Needless to say, they have an easy color combination, which goes with anything. I combined it with a green dress that is similar to the green in the sneaker. A perfect coincidence! Now I hear you think “ what if I am not the person to wear sneakers with dresses, how should I wear these vintage Reebok Club C-85 Vintage kicks?”. Well, this is quite simple, because you can basically pair them with everything, but WHAT I WOULD wear them with otherwise is a pair of jeans, cropped, and a simple slightly oversized t-shirt tucked in, OR a pair of denim shorts and a men’s shirt. Maybe add a Havana straw hat, or a pair of black or white sunglasses. They get you ready for life in the city, running from meeting to meeting, or picking up the kids. All in the perfect Retro Style!   Thank for the awesome sneakers Reebok, I loved working with them, and I can’t wait to wear them this fashion month! When KHAITE launched in 2016, it immediately grew on me and became one of my favorite brands. With their dreamy dresses and tulle tops, it was just in line with my forever obsession over the “runaway-bride” look – aka pretty dresses and sneakers. However, with its core of reimagining of American sportswear, it didn’t come as a surprise that their denim and cashmere sweaters turned out to be a dream, too. Designed in New York City and made in Los Angeles, KHAITE Jeans are the ultimate effortless piece in my everyday dressing. I mean, I’ve mentioned it many times before; I do absolutely want to pick up my kids in a little couture gown and a pair of sneakers, but in reality, that will not happen for a VERY long time, if ever. LOL. So yes, in my day-to-day dressing, a good pair of jeans is a must, and right now, KHAITE serves my denim needs in the best way possible. Today, I’m wearing The Kyle Jean in Tucson; a style that looks and feels like I borrowed it from the boys – something I love so much anyways – and combines perfectly with any feminine top or pair of shoes. In my case I did both with their new fall/winter Ankle Boot in Black Leather, and their Lucie Top in Black.  I would totally wear it with a white shirt tucked in, one of their tulle tops in nude, or just a light cashmere knit when fall hits and the nights are a little more crisp again. It just feels so effortless, and comfortable, without losing on style or sophistication.  It’s not often I dress this minimal, let alone show it to you, because I feel – and always tell people – “I don’t get away with it”, it doesn’t spark on me as much as on some women, who really just look so effortless and chic this minimal. However, I think I got converted to the church of KHAITE now, and will be living on the more minimal side of looks throughout the week. NOT to worry though, I’m not ever going to let go of my tulle obsession, nor will any pair of sneakers every leave my closet. But as I said, KHAITE has it all girls: The ultimate wardrobe staples, but not with any less “sparks”. This post is sponsored by KHAITE and ShopStyle. In a world of online shopping, endless love for the latest, but a deep desire for comfort, too, I find a gem. Not really hidden to be honest, because it’s been there for a while, yet I never considered it to be my “fashion destination”, until I did… Amazon has been my emergency line, my home appliances heaven, my final shopping destination. Sounds rather dramatic, I know, but when you have a newborn you find yourself in need of many things, one the most ungodly hours of the day. I never shied away from a PRIME order in the middle of the night, even if it were for a box of diapers during fashion week, because I knew I wouldn’t be able to get them at the supermarket while running around during back to back shows… Yet, I didn’t realize until a little while back, that Amazon Fashion was going to be my new obsession. With many contemporary brands being available within three clicks and with PRIME delivery – aka next day, or even SAME day on some occasions – it was obviously only a matter of time before we would enter a true love affair. Not to sound ridiculous, but it is really a love story: for the longest time, and still do, I dreaded the idea of finding time to go shopping. I truly don’t find joy in going to a store, on my day off, where it is – as it always proves to be in NYC – mega packed. I’m a person who needs to shop in their own space, without a store manager hovering behind me asking me – of course with the best intentions – if I need anything. I’m a big girl, I will ask you if I need something, thank you. I’m wearing a Ralph Lauren shirt & Nike shorts, both from Amazon Fashion. I don’t mean this to sound rude, and I know they are just doing their job, but the truth is, it takes away from the shopping experience for me. I like peace and quiet, and above all convenience. Which is basically exactly what I get when I get my wardrobe staples from Amazon Fashion. Who knew!  Speaking of wardrobe staples, this summer I stocked up on white tees and tank tops – see one I’m wearing in this post. They are the perfect transitional pieces to use when its beginning to get cold in NYC. Just layer a knit over your shoulders or a classic denim jacket with an all-white look.  I was also able to get some great poplin shirts from Ralph Lauren, too. I used to grab Thomas’ but now I created my own little section in my wardrobe, just oversized poplins from the all American heritage brand. Another thing that is literally the best deal is athleisure wear. I’m not saying workout clothes, because truth is, I don’t really work out in them, I wear them just on regular moments of the day. Here combined with heels and my latest poplin love of orange for the warmer fall days and with trousers and a knit for cooler days.  What I’m trying to say is that we have to rethink our shopping strategy, broaden our horizon, and look beyond what we know. I mean, who knew Amazon would be your next

Back to some of my first fashion memories. I remember I received a Tommy piece when I was pregnant with James 7 years ago and thinking it was one of the first designer pieces he will ever own! It’s quite special if you think about it, how brands are weaved into our lives. To me that means quality, and that’s what I value as much as a good design. Tommy Hilfiger is a go-to for those reasons; I know what I get when I buy a Tommy coat or pair of trousers. I get a product that will almost outlive me – especially when you take good care of it. I buy timeless and classic pieces from the brand because I think that’s what they are best known for; however, I’ve been introduced to their Hilfiger Collection line through this partnership, and I must admit that this put them in a whole different perspective for me. The look I’m wearing in this post, is the absolute everyday sophisticated look I – and you – need in ours wardrobes. It will be perfect for a work meeting, but I can do a school run in it too. Needless to say, the colours are beyond. To me, there is nothing more chic than camel and cream tones for the fall-winter season. In addition to the colors, the richness of the fabric elevates this look to be unbelievably chic! I loved an oversized knit, so I chose to go a size up, but you can go for your normal size if you prefer to have it less chunky. The trousers are on the long side for me, but what’s a tailor-run these days? No biggie! Proved to be the perfect fall-winter look, I can recommend to take a peek at their new collection, I am sure it won’t disappoint! I’m wearing: Hilfiger Collection knit / Hilfiger Collection pants (get short version here) / KHAITE bag / Celine sunglasses / Bottega Veneta sneakers. I want to start with the following – before diving into the world of “Fashion Discovery” because Moda Operandi is, after all, the platform for Fashion Discovery – Moda Operandi is the only online platform that offers straight off the runway pre-ordering. This means that we as customers can make sure to actually get our hands on the most-wanted, most-coveted, and ultra-trendy pieces that everyone wants to wear next season. This is an extremely smart and exciting way to shop, but of course, you’ll need to be confident about what’s going to be “hot” next season, and above all, you’ll need to have the patience for it to arrive, because it’s not a next-day delivery situation. Your next season’s person will get to you, but only just before the new collections hit the stores… The way to be ahead of the pack, and order next season’s best pieces, is through Moda Operandi’s many “Trunkshows”. These trunk shows arrive pretty much right after the new collections hit the runway, or when their new season lookbooks come out – this is usually for the brands who don’t show at fashion week. On top of being able to pre-order the latest collections – something that clearly sets Moda Operandi apart from most other online retailers – is the incredible curation of designers, and buy. You will find pieces on Moda Operandi that other online retailers aren’t offering, and they will bring you the most promising and loved new and upcoming designers of the moment.  A good example of a designer I already knew and loved – and was able to pre-order straight off the runway – and a designer that I didn’t know existed, yet fell in love with right when I saw their new lookbook are Alessandra Rich and Michael Lo Sordo.  Alessandra Rich is a long time favorite of mine; the combination of classic designers, but with a little twist – naughty but nice – have always appealed to me, and she does amazing evening wear, as well as knits and accessories. Below a little selection of some if the best looks of her Spring-Summer 2020 collection. Turn on your JavaScript to view content Michael Lo Sordo is a designer from Australia I discovered on Moda Operandi, mainly because his Spring-Summer 2020 looked so beautiful. Welcome back! It’s been FOREVER since we were here on Thefashionguitar together, but I’m so excited that we are, and even more to share our first “Home story”, created in partnership with Maisonette. After moving into our new apartment in our favorite neighborhood on the UES, October last year, our first job was to get both childrens bedrooms ready. We’ve moved many times, within London, from London to New York City, and within New York City, but we’ve always made it a case to – no matter how the rest of the apartment looks – to finish the children’s bedrooms first! Although, this is actually the first time they are in their own room, until this apartment they’ve always shared a bedroom. Turn on your JavaScript to view content Until this apartment, James and Stella shared their bedroom and they loved it. We loved it, too, because we believed the companionship actually helped them feeling comfortable and secure when going to bed. They rarely woke up at night, or had trouble falling asleep – and I don’t necessarily think this is because of any sleep training magic, because we never did any in particular other than having a solid bedtime routine, which we vigorously sticked to. At all times. Then there’s also an age-factor that played part in the decision to keep them together, rather than separating them. I mean, don’t get me wrong, I have nothing against separate rooms, I just have more Pro’s than Con’s, and in the end of the day, it worked for us… But this doesn’t mean it’s a formula for guaranteed success. Anyway, where I’m going with this, is that what I mentioned before, about James and Stella being secure and comfortable together and the the age-factor, is simply that we feel that when they we’re younger, they had stronger emotional needs to “support” each other. Now, James being almost 10 and Stella turning 8 in a few weeks, we noticed their emotional needs around bedtime, or at night, are different. James needs his own space, his own moments before bed, and even dare I say, some sort of privacy. Or call it personal space. Stella is definitely not 100% there yet, emotionally. She asks us frequently if she can sleep with James, or James with her, but sadly for Stella, James refuses more often than that he says yes. Stella therefore, we think, asked us if the new baby – arriving end of October if all goes well – can stay in her room. We obviously said yes to that, but explained that he will first be in our room, until he’s sleeping through the night. She agreed. We all agreed. And we went back to implementing a solid bedtimes routine for both of them, in separate rooms – god is this a challenge, after their summer break! But a week in, a week of waking up early for school, we feel we are getting there… now we have to just stick to it! But sorry, I know you didn’t come here for parenting advice – nor do I want this platform to be the focus of that – but for children’s bedrooms ideas, so let’s get to it! For both rooms one thing was very clear from the start; I wanted a design
